how to remove administrative account

If the extra sign-in option is another user account on the PC, remove it from Windows:

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Accounts > Other user.
3. Under Other users, select the account to remove.
4. Next to Account and data, select Remove.

This removes that account’s sign-in information and data from the device. It does not delete that person’s Microsoft account.

If the sign-in option is a work or school account, disconnect it instead:

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
3. Select the account.
4. Select Disconnect and confirm.

If the account showing is the built-in Administrator account after a reset, Microsoft provides a registry-based fix to stop it appearing at sign-in. Warning: editing the registry can cause serious problems if done incorrectly.

1. On the sign-in screen, select the Administrator password box so other accounts appear.
2. Sign in with an account that has administrator permissions.
3. Search for regedit and open Registry Editor.
4. Go to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
5. In the right pane, open AutoAdminLogon.
6. Set Value data to 0.
7. Restart Windows.

If the goal is to stop being asked for a password and use a simpler sign-in, Windows also supports going passwordless with Windows Hello:

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in options.
3. Under Additional settings, turn on For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device.
