Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
If messages from that sender used to arrive and now do not, check Outlook.com in this order:
- Check Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive, and the Other tab.
- If Focused Inbox is on, the message may be in Other instead of Inbox.
- If a message is in Junk by mistake, mark it as Not junk.
- Check sorting and filters.
- In the message list, select Filter > Sort > Date to make sure messages are not appearing out of order.
- Check for forwarding.
- If forwarding is enabled, messages may be going to another mailbox instead of staying in Outlook.com.
- Check mail rules.
- A rule may be moving or deleting messages from that sender before they appear in Inbox.
- Check blocked and junk settings.
- Review the blocked senders list and Junk Email settings in case that sender or domain was added there.
- Ask the sender whether they received a non-delivery report.
- If they did, the error text can identify whether the message was rejected before it reached the mailbox.
- If the sender reports an SPF-related rejection, that must be corrected on the sender’s side.
- If the message still cannot be found, contact the sender and ask them to refer to Sender Support in Outlook.com.
If no messages from that sender appear in any folder and there is no forwarding or rule causing it, the issue may be happening before delivery to the mailbox.
