MS media for downloading windows 10 to a UHB drive

My laptop arrived in March of this year, after 5 months of usage I get a message to activate Windows. This was a gift, so I didn't bother looking at the specs...it had windows 11 installed. It is an off brand laptop, so I decided to check the specs, they were fine, except for the processor (7th gen). tried downloading windows 10 to UHB drive via instructions on MS web pages. It still wants me to activate windows. I am thinking the company did a work around foe windows 11. Without trying to take a short cut, would it be best for me to buy windows 10 pro? I use my lap top for older games from 2012 and email.

Thanks for your time Steve Goodwin

Hello, Goodwin Steve.

If you do not have a Windows license installed on this PC, then you should purchase one. Windows 10 can now be purchased either in third-party stores or on the secondary market, as Microsoft has long stopped selling this OS. And more. The Home edition OS is quite enough for home use. The Professional edition includes components that are required in business, but they are unnecessary for the home.
