Trying to activate Windows 11 on a new PC build

Finished putting my new PC build together today, purchased a copy of Windows 11 from Microsoft.com. No product key was given, but I do have an order number. I'm told it should simply activate by signing in to the account I purchased Window 11 on. I have done everything that's asked of me, and it still says I need a product key to activate Windows 11. Why is this so difficult?

Hello, Marrs.

Check your email (and the "Spam" folder), because after purchasing the ESD (full offline electronic version) on the Microsoft website, a key should have been sent to the e-mail address to which the Microsoft account from which the purchase was made is linked. Also, please specify which edition (Home or Professional) and where exactly (on the Microsoft website or in the Microsoft Store) was the OS purchased?
