Install Microsoft 365 Office on iPad

On an iPad, Microsoft 365 is typically installed from the App Store as either:

1. Microsoft Copilot for iOS, which combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in one app, or
2. The individual apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

To get it working on the iPad:

1. Open the App Store on the iPad.
2. Search for Microsoft Copilot, or search for Word, Excel, or PowerPoint individually.
3. Tap Get to install the app.
4. Open the installed app.
5. Sign in with the Microsoft account that has access to the Microsoft 365 Family subscription. If access is through a shared Family subscription, sign in with the account that accepted the sharing invitation.

If the app installs but premium features do not unlock, that usually means the signed-in account does not have the subscription assigned. In that case, use the shared family member account rather than the subscription owner’s account unless the subscription is directly tied to that owner account.

If installation keeps timing out or the app does not appear after install:

1. Restart the iPad.
2. Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage and make sure there is enough free space.
3. Install directly from the App Store instead of using a browser button or install page.

After signing in once, the same account is added to other Microsoft 365 apps installed on the iPad.
