Try these steps in order:
- Make sure the earbuds are actually in pairing mode and not still connected to another device. Some earbuds can only stay paired to one device at a time. If they were connected to a phone or another PC, remove or disconnect them there first.
- Check the earbuds themselves:
- Turn them off, wait a few seconds, then turn them back on.
- Make sure they are charged.
- Keep them close to the PC.
- If the connection is unstable, move them away from USB 3.0 devices, which can interfere with Bluetooth.
- On the Windows PC, confirm Bluetooth is on:
- Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices
- Make sure the PC is discoverable / showing all Bluetooth devices:
- Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > under Device settings > Bluetooth devices discovery, choose Advanced.
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & other devices > More Bluetooth options > Options tab > check Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC.
- Remove the earbuds from Windows and add them again:
- Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > select More options for the earbuds > Remove device > Yes.
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > select the earbuds > Remove device > Yes. Then pair them again.
- Make sure Airplane mode is off:
- Windows 11: taskbar quick settings
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter:
- Windows 11: Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Bluetooth > Run
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Bluetooth > Run the troubleshooter
- Update the Bluetooth driver in Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Bluetooth
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter
- Select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software
- Restart if prompted
- If Bluetooth works for other devices but not the earbuds, remove any hidden old entry for them:
- Open Device Manager
- Select View > Show Hidden Devices
- Under Bluetooth, if the earbuds appear, remove them and try pairing again.
- If the earbuds still do not appear, uninstall the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager, then shut down and turn the PC back on so Windows reinstalls it automatically. This can reset a corrupted Bluetooth stack.
