I have Outlook for Mac and cannot seem to block the domain on microsoft.com. This is inundating my junk folder. Any ideas on how to block the whole domain?

    Hello Mark Penwarden,

Just to clarify, what type of email account are you using in Outlook for Mac, for example Outlook.com/Microsoft 365, Gmail, or another provider?

I ask because the available junk-mail controls differ depending on the account type.

Also, if your main goal is to stop these messages from filling the Junk folder, blocking the domain may not achieve that. Outlook's blocked-sender feature generally classifies blocked mail as junk rather than preventing it from arriving.

Once you confirm the account type, I can point you to the appropriate option.

For Outlook for Mac, blocking a sender or domain sends future messages to the Junk folder. It does not stop delivery before they arrive.

For new Outlook for Mac with an Exchange-based account such as Outlook.com:

    1. Select a message from that sender.
    2. In the toolbar, select Block.
    3. Outlook adds that sender’s address to the blocked senders list.

To remove or review blocked entries:

    1. In the Outlook menu, select Tools > Junk Email Preferences.
    2. Under Blocked Senders, add or remove the email address or domain.

Important limits from the product behavior:

    • In Outlook for Mac, block/unblock sender works only for Exchange accounts such as Outlook.com or work email hosted by Exchange.
    • In Outlook for Mac junk email protection, blocked senders/domains are treated as junk and moved to the Junk folder.
    • For Outlook on the web or Outlook.com, a blocked email address or blocked domain also moves messages directly to Junk Email.
    • Junk email in Outlook on the web or Outlook.com is automatically removed from the Junk Email folder after 14 days.

If the goal is to stop onmicrosoft.com mail from filling the Junk folder entirely, that behavior is not available through blocked senders alone, because blocked senders route mail to Junk rather than preventing delivery.
