Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi Mohamed,
If you have a Microsoft 365 Education A1 license, you generally cannot use any desktop version of Microsoft Office, whether it is the latest version or an older version. The limitation comes from the license entitlement, not the Office version itself.
Desktop client apps with an A1 license are basic Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, and Teams that are available online (not installed) through the free Microsoft 365 A1 plan for students and teachers.a
For reference: A1 products and features - M365 Education | Microsoft Learn
To install Office desktop apps, schools typically need Microsoft 365 A3 or A5 licenses (or another qualifying desktop-app subscription)
Even if you find an installer for:
- Office 2021
- Office 2019
- Office 2016
- Microsoft 365 Apps (older builds)
your A1 student license does not provide activation rights for those desktop products. You would need a separate perpetual Office license or a subscription that includes desktop apps.
I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.
