Additional Class Notebook-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Try this end-to-end path:
- In the Class Notebook, open the page to distribute.
- Select Class Notebook > Distribute Page > Group Distribution.
- If the student group does not already exist, select + New group, name it, select the students, and choose Save.
- Select the Go back arrow, check the group, select Next, choose the destination section in student notebooks, and select Distribute.
If it shows “Uh oh! It looks like something went wrong!”:
- Try distributing from OneNote desktop if the issue is happening in OneNote for the web.
- In OneNote for the web, after the error appears, press Ctrl + ~ to generate session information.
- Select Export Logs. A .csv file will download.
- Submit the problem through https://aka.ms/edusupport and attach the .csv file.
Also check for common causes of distribution problems:
- In OneNote for Windows desktop, go to File > Options > Sync and make sure Sync notebooks automatically is enabled.
- If the page contains large PDFs or file printouts, try a simple test page first with no attachments. Large files can slow or block distribution.
- Right-click the notebook name and select Sync this Notebook.
- If needed, distribute materials before or after class so syncing can complete in the background. Distributed pages are not lost during slow sync; they continue copying in the background even if the distribution window is closed.
If the notebook is missing Welcome, Collaboration Space, or Content Library, that can also cause distribution errors. In that case, go to the notebook fix page on OneNote.com and use Fix Permissions for the affected notebook.
- Distribute pages and sections to Class Notebooks
- Generate diagnostic logs and report problems with distributing pages in OneNote Class Notebook
- Fix slow sync times and delays when distributing pages in Class Notebook
- Fix Class Notebook when Welcome, Collaboration Space, or Content Library are missing
