A program that grants points for using Bing search, which users can redeem for gift cards, sweepstakes entries, or charitable donations.
For Microsoft Rewards, there is no supported way to manually reset the Rewards country after VPN use.
What can be done:
- Stop using the VPN, proxy, or any service that changes the visible location.
- Make sure Rewards is being used only from the actual country/region.
- Redeem points only in the same region where the Rewards account was signed up and where the points were earned.
- If the account is still showing the wrong country, submit a request to Microsoft Rewards Support so the Rewards team can review the account.
Important points:
- Microsoft Rewards offers vary by country.
- Rewards points should be redeemed in the same region used for signup.
- Using a VPN while redeeming points is specifically called out as something not to do.
- Microsoft Rewards account policies state that using a service to alter the true IP address of the location, earning points from more than one country the same day, or redeeming points outside the country where the points were earned can cause account restrictions or suspension.
- Changing the Microsoft account or Microsoft Store country does not guarantee that Microsoft Rewards will immediately switch regions.
If the Microsoft account country also needs updating, the supported profile path is:
- Microsoft account dashboard → Your info → Edit profile info → change Country or region
If the Store/Windows region also needs updating:
- Windows 11: Start → Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region → Country or region
- Windows 10: Start → Settings → Time & Language → Region → Country or region
