Additional Class Notebook-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
The screenshot confirms that Cross Notebook Distribution is failing with the generic “Uh oh! It looks like something went wrong!” message. Because the same problem affects all teachers, this may be related to permissions, the shared Staff Notebook’s storage location, or the Class Notebook integration rather than an individual account.
Please try the following:
-Test distributing to a single class notebook instead of all at once: If teachers are distributing to several class notebooks simultaneously, try distributing to just one at a time instead. There's a documented pattern where distribution to 3+ notebooks at once causes section mismatches and failures, while 1–2 notebooks work reliably.
-Check the Manage Notebooks page for a section mismatch:
https://www.onenote.com/edu/classnotebook/notebook-links — this page shows what sections the Distribution feature actually "sees" in each notebook. If a section was renamed or deleted directly in OneNote (rather than through the official tools), it can fall out of sync with what's registered here, breaking distribution. If something looks off, add/re-sync the section and allow some time before retrying.
-If one specific section seems to be the trigger, copy it into a new section: If it's possible to isolate this to one specific section of the staff notebook (try distributing different sections individually to see if only one consistently fails), copy that section's content into a brand-new section and distribute from the copy instead. A single corrupted section has been known to fail the entire distribution even when everything else is fine.
-Rule out a browser session issue (web): try an incognito/private window or a different browser
