How can I change the account name that appears on the Windows lock screen of my ASUS PC

If the PC is using a Microsoft account, change the display name online, then allow time for Windows to refresh it:

1. Open the Microsoft account Edit name page: Edit name.
2. Make the change and select Save.
3. Complete the Captcha if prompted.
4. Wait up to 24 hours for the new name to update everywhere, including Windows sign-in surfaces.

Important details:

• Changing the Microsoft account display name does not rename the user profile folder under C:\Users.
• It can update in some places before others, so seeing the new name in Settings but the old name on the lock screen for a while is normal.
• Non-standard font characters are not supported and can prevent sign-in.

If the name still does not update on the lock screen after waiting, refresh the account connection on the device:

1. Open Settings > Accounts > Your info.
2. Select Sign in with a local account instead.
3. Complete the prompts, then select Sign out and finish.
4. Restart the PC.
5. Go back to Settings > Accounts > Your info.
6. Select Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
7. Sign in again with the Microsoft account.
8. Restart the PC again.

If the PC is using a local account instead of a Microsoft account:

1. Select Start, type Control Panel, then select Open.
2. Select User Accounts.
3. Select Change your account name.
