I have a Surface Pro 12" which is a Copilot+ PC. I recently got it but the problem is that I can't use any AI components. Only two of them have the version number, while the other 2 are displayed as version 0.0.0.0

These components are also 0 bytes in size.User's image

Does anyone know how to fix this? I am running Windows Insider Experimental 26H2 latest build.

Thanks for the screenshots, Peter Ma,

Since you are running Windows 11 26H2 in the Experimental Channel, there's a chance this is related to the Insider build/component servicing. While 26H2 is stated to share the same content delivered with 25H2, right now the official articles still only mention up to 26H1 version.

That said, it doesn't mean AI components not working on 26H2, in fact, they should. In addition, many users have received correct updates and are actively experiencing those new features. This might be only a visual mis-report, a specific build regression, or actual hardware complication. Please try these steps:

1 - Make sure everything is up to date

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
    • Then go to Advanced options > Optional updates
    • Install all available updates and reboot.

2 - Check whether Settings is reporting correctly

    • Open Paint, Photos, Notepad... > are the AI features available?
    • Right-click Start > select Windows PowerShell / Terminal (Admin)
    • Enter Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *AI* | Select-Object Name, Version, Status
    • Check the list for the AI components and confirm their details:
      • E.g. If AI Semantic Analysis shows correct version, Settings just misreported.
      • If you're unsure, paste the results / share the screenshot here (hiding personal information).

3 - Reinstallation repair (keeping files and apps)

    • Use built-in repair option
      • Open Settings > System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update
      • Click Reinstall now > follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall Windows.
    • Insider in-place upgrade

Disclaimer: Both Windows reinstallation and in-place upgrade will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up first before making large system changes.

If the AI components still remain at 0 bytes and you cannot use the AI features, report the problem through Feedback Hub (press Win + F). Include the screenshots and your exact OS build number so that the Windows Insider team can investigate a possible build or servicing issue.
