Unable to login to Microsoft Azure account using personal gmail account

Recently, Microsoft has made it mandatory that all admin account that are signing into the admin portals (including Azure) must have two-step verification enabled. This is outlined in this article here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/authentication/concept-mandatory-multifactor-authentication?tabs=dotnet

The problem seems to be that the system never made you set this up on your account when signing up. However, now it is asking for you to verify a code.

Just so I know, is the code an 8 digit code or a 6 digit code?

As you are using a personal Microsoft account, please can you sign into your Microsoft account (with your Gmail address) on the Security page here: https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional

I suspect, because you are being asked to verify your sign-in request with the Microsoft Authenticator app, it will ask you to do the same on this page. However, you should be able to click onto "I don't have access to my Authenticator app" and use a different security method to verify your sign-in request.

Once you have signed into your account, please can you check if you have turned on two-step verification and have followed the instructions to add the Microsoft Authenticator app to your Microsoft account.
