Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Try these checks in Outlook.com:
- Check Junk Email, Deleted Items, and Archive.
- If the message is in Deleted Items, select it and choose Restore.
- If it is in Archive, move it back to Inbox.
- If it is in Junk Email, mark it as Not junk.
- In Deleted Items, select Recover items deleted from this folder.
- Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
- Check the message list filter.
- Above the message list, select Filter and set it to All.
- Check whether Focused Inbox is enabled.
- If it is, look in the Other tab for missing mail.
- Check inbox rules.
- Go to Rules settings and look for rules that move messages out of the inbox.
- Check account storage.
- If Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email, and messages sent while storage was full are bounced back to the sender and are unrecoverable.
- Check recent sign-in activity.
- If unusual activity is suspected, review the account’s recent activity to see whether someone else accessed it.
- If sign-in is failing, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper.
If these steps do not resolve it, use Outlook.com support from Help in the menu bar and then Still need help?
