New Outlook : Gmail account read / deleted messages keep reappearing unread or not deleted

I have been using the new outlook for a while with my gmail account with no issues.

Then one week ago, read messages started reappearing unread, and deleted messages were not deleted, event if I made no changes in my new outlook configuration or on my gmail account.

I tried to remove an re-add my gmail account, but the issue is still there.

With the mail app on my iphone, it works.
With the outlook app on my iphone, it works

It seems that there is a bug with the new outlook app on windows 11.

Hello Christophe C,

I understand that read Gmail messages are appearing as unread again in New Outlook, while deleted messages are returning or not being removed. Since the Gmail account works correctly in both iPhone apps, this might be a synchronization issue between Gmail and New Outlook for Windows.

Please try the options below first:

Open Gmail in a browser, then go to Settings > See all settings > Labels. Make sure Show in IMAP is enabled for Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail.
In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook for Windows > Advanced options. Select Repair first. If that does not help, select Reset, reopen Outlook, and add the Gmail account again.

If the problem continues, please submit feedback through New Outlook > Help > Feedback. Include when the issue started and a brief description of the behavior so the relevant product team can investigate it further.

What is going on now is pretty weird.

When I mark a mail read or unread on Oulook for ios, it syncs with my Gmail account and with Outlook for windows

What the hell ?

I have tried the "repair" option but it didn't change anything.

I'm not really eager to do the "reset" because I have 6 emails account to setup after that ;-)

I just tried to remove and re-add my gmail account but this doesn't change anything.

Looks like the issue really comes from Outlook for Windows (the new one)

Hi Christophe C,

Thank you for testing both apps. Since resetting New Outlook would require you to set up six accounts again, I understand your concern and would not recommend doing that at this stage.

Your results are helpful and suggest that the issue may be related to how changes are synchronizing with New Outlook for Windows.

For now, I suggest using Gmail on the web or Outlook for iOS as temporary workaround when changing the read status or deleting messages.

Please also check the Microsoft Store for any available Outlook updates. If Outlook is already up to date, please submit feedback as suggested in my earlier answer. This will help bring the issue to the relevant product team for further investigation.
