Organizing sections, permissions, and content within the Class Notebook
There is no Teams setting to allow selective late edits while keeping the normal assignment page-locking behavior. For OneNote pages attached to Teams assignments, page locking after Turn in or after the due date is by design, and there is no built-in option to turn that feature off.
The supported workflow for a single student is to unlock that student’s page from OneNote using Review Student Work:
- Open the Class Notebook in OneNote.
- Go to Class Notebook on the ribbon.
- Select Review Student Work.
- Choose the section and page, then select Next.
- Select Page Locking.
- Clear or set the checkbox only for the specific student, then select Apply.
That avoids changing section permissions and is the documented way to lock or unlock individual student pages.
For assignments created from Class Notebook pages in Teams, the documented behavior is:
- the student page locks when the student selects Turn in
- the page unlocks when the assignment is Returned
- the page also unlocks if the student selects Undo turn in
For late work or extensions, the practical supported workflow is:
- have the student use Undo turn in to continue editing, or
- unlock that individual page in OneNote through Review Student Work, then verify the student is using a supported OneNote version
If the page state in Teams does not reflect the unlock reliably, the context does not provide a separate sync fix or alternate Teams-side control for that scenario.
