Apps on Mac won't load log in screen

I am unable to log into my powerpoint or word app on my Mac as the log in screen just spins and says loading

    Hi, @Hannah Brierley

    If you haven't tried it yet, first, open a browser and sign in at https://www.office.com with the same Microsoft account you use for Word and PowerPoint.

    If that works, restart the Mac, then open Word again and try "Sign in."

    Also make sure Office is fully updated. Open Word or PowerPoint, then go to Help > Check for Updates.

    If the sign-in screen still keeps spinning, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. What macOS version are you using?
    2. Can you sign in successfully at https://www.office.com in your browser?
    3. Does this happen in all Office apps, or only Word and PowerPoint?
