COPY AND PASTE THE CELLS IN EXCELL

If standard Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V stopped working after a recent Office update, and Paste Special options still work, the issue has been reported after a recent Excel update.

Try these steps in order:

1. Test whether Paste Special still works:
   • Copy the cells with Ctrl+C.
   • Open Paste Special with Ctrl+Alt+V.
   • Press:
     • A to paste all cell contents and formatting
     • V to paste values only
     • T to paste formatting only
2. If normal paste still fails after the update, check whether the recent Office update is the cause:
   • A reported cause is update KB5002914.
   • Uninstalling that update and restarting Windows has resolved the issue for some users.
   • If uninstalling the update does not help, reinstalling Office has also restored copy/paste functionality in reported cases.
3. Run an Online Repair of Office if copy/paste and cut/paste are both affected:
   • This was the accepted resolution in another reported post-update Excel paste issue.
4. If the problem is only that the shortcut timing triggers a popup instead of copying:
   • Go to File > Options > General.
   • Under User interface options, clear Show Quick Analysis.

For copying cells with the same format, Excel also supports pasting all contents and formatting through Paste Special:

• Copy the cells with Ctrl+C.
• Press Ctrl+Alt+V.
• Press A to paste all cell contents and formatting.

Note: the shortcut for paste is Ctrl+V, not Ctrl+P.
