Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

Based on your inputs, it seems that there might be a physical issue or a driver problem with the Camera. To sort out the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

Method 1. Check if the Camera has a slider to turn the camera on or off (Usually at the top of the camera)

Method 2. Check the privacy settings of the Camera (Go to Settings > Privacy & Security> Camera (Make sure that the Camera access is turned on)

Method 3. Roll back the Camera Driver:

-Press the Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Cameras

    -Look for your Camera driver

    -Right-click and click Update Driver

-Select Browse my computer for drivers

-Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

-Choose an old driver or another driver name, then select it and hit next until it installs.

    -Restart the PC and check.

Note: If the issue persists, kindly check the Lenovo Vantage app if the Camera is enabled:

If the camera is either completely blank or very blurry even after the usual Windows troubleshooting, I’d check whether this is a privacy/shutter, driver, or hardware issue rather than just an app setting.

For a Lenovo laptop, I’d go through these checks:

Check the physical camera shutter/privacy switch if the model has one. Make sure it isn't covering the lens.

Open Settings → Privacy & security → Camera and make sure camera access is enabled for the device and for the app you're using.

Test it in the built-in Camera app. If it is blurry/blank there as well, the issue is probably not Teams/Zoom/etc.

Open Device Manager → Cameras, right-click the Lenovo/Integrated Camera and try Update driver. If that doesn't help, uninstall the device and restart Windows so it can reinstall the driver.

Check Lenovo Vantage for available driver/BIOS updates, especially the camera driver.

If the camera is still blank in the Windows Camera app after that, I'd check Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates for a camera driver.

If the camera appears in Device Manager but produces a completely black/blank image, or remains blurry across multiple applications, there could be a camera hardware/focus problem and Lenovo support/service may be needed.

If you can share a screenshot of Device Manager → Cameras and the Windows Camera app showing the problem, it would help narrow down whether this is a driver/privacy issue or something hardware-related.

For a Lenovo laptop camera that is blank or blurry, use this order so the cause is isolated quickly:

    1. Check Lenovo privacy controls first.
      • Look for a physical shutter or slider around the camera lens and make sure it is open.
      • Press the camera privacy shortcut key if the device has one. On some Lenovo devices this is often F8.
      • Open Lenovo Vantage and check camera/privacy settings. Turn off camera privacy mode.
    2. Test the camera outside Teams.
      • Open the built-in Windows Camera app.
      • If the Camera app also shows a gray screen, lock icon, black/blank image, or blurry image, the issue is outside the calling app.
    3. If the camera is blank, check Windows camera permissions.
      • Open Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Turn on Camera access.
      • Turn on Let apps access your camera.
      • If using the Teams desktop app, make sure Microsoft Teams is allowed.
      • Restart the app, and if needed restart Windows.
    4. If the image is blurry or only the background shows, turn off video effects.
      • In the app’s video settings or pre-join screen, turn off Blur and any background effects.
      • This can reveal whether the camera is actually covered or privacy mode is enabled.
    5. If the camera is intermittent or sometimes not detected, enable basic camera driver mode.
      • Open Settings in Windows.
      • Go to the camera settings for the device.
      • Open Advanced camera options.
      • Enable Basic camera driver mode.
      • Restart the app and test again.
      • Note: this may disable some manufacturer camera features, but it can improve reliability.
    6. If the image is still blurry on a Lenovo laptop, check Lenovo-specific hardware/software.
      • In Lenovo Vantage, run the camera or hardware checks if available.
      • If the image stays blurry in both the Windows Camera app and video apps after privacy mode is off and the lens is clear, the camera module or lens may need service.
    7. If using Skype for Business or another app, make sure another program is not already using the webcam.
      • Close video editors, browser tabs using camera, virtual camera software, and messaging apps.

If the problem is specifically in Teams Free, and these steps do not fix it, use Give feedback in Teams and include a screenshot, logs if available, and the steps already tried.
