    Hi Gail,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you would like to set up notifications to receive an email whenever a shared file in OneDrive is modified.

However, the Alerts feature that was previously used to receive notifications when files were modified has been retired. You may refer to the following documentation for more information: SharePoint Alerts retirement | Microsoft Support

Therefore, to achieve this requirement, you will need to use Power Automate to create a flow. When a file in OneDrive for Business is modified, the system can automatically send you an email notification that includes details such as the name of the modified file, the person who made the changes, and the date and time of the modification.

However, my current area of support is primarily focused on Microsoft 365 products. Since your request is related to Microsoft Power Automate, I recommend posting your question in the Microsoft Power Platform Community to receive the most accurate and effective assistance.

There, you can obtain guidance from specialists in this area. In addition, community members and partners who actively monitor the forum may be able to share their experiences and suggest useful solutions for your scenario.

I apologize for referring you to another community. However, as this forum mainly focuses on Microsoft 365, my knowledge of Power Automate is limited. Contacting the appropriate team of experts will help ensure that you receive more timely and accurate assistance.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.

Yes. For shared files in OneDrive on the web, notifications for views or edits are available on a per-file basis.

    Steps:

    1. Sign in to OneDrive on the web.
    2. In Shared, select the file.
    3. Select Info in the top-right.
    4. Select Manage access.
    5. Select the bell icon to turn notifications on for that shared Office file.

This applies when someone views or edits a shared Office file.

If broader file-change notifications are needed in SharePoint-backed libraries, alerts can also be created on a file or folder by selecting the item, opening the ... menu, and choosing Alert Me. Note that SharePoint alerts in Microsoft 365 are scheduled to be fully retired starting July 2026, and rules or Power Automate are recommended instead.
