My asus laptop is not getting charged, it switch off when I unplug it

It is 3-4 hours since I plugged in the charger in my laptop but it is not getting charged, it is getting switched off when I plug it off.

    Since the laptop shuts off as soon as the charger is unplugged, the battery does not appear to be supplying power.
