Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Try these checks in order in Outlook.com:
- Check Deleted Items
- Open Deleted Items.
- If the messages are there, select them and choose Restore.
- If they are not there, at the top of Deleted Items select Recover items deleted from this folder.
- Select the messages and choose Restore.
- Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
- Check Junk Email
- Open Junk Email.
- If the messages are there, select them and choose Report > Not junk.
- Messages in Junk Email are automatically removed after 30 days and are not recoverable.
- Check Archive
- Open Archive.
- If the messages are there, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
- Check the Other tab
- If Focused Inbox is enabled, the messages may be under Other.
- If found there, select the message and choose Move to > Move to Focused inbox.
- Clear any message filter
- Above the message list, select Filter.
- Change it to All so messages are not hidden by a filter.
- Check inbox rules
- On a computer, open Rules settings and review any Inbox or Sweep rules that may be moving messages out of the Inbox.
- Edit or delete any rule that is moving messages incorrectly.
- Check recent sign-in activity
- If the messages disappeared unexpectedly, review the account’s recent sign-in activity for unusual access.
- If using Firefox
- Certain Firefox add-ons can prevent the inbox from loading. Disable or remove add-ons and test again.
If the messages still do not appear, use Outlook.com support from Help in the menu bar and enter the issue, or use the Outlook.com support option in the support article.
