In the new Microsoft Outlook, how can I click through emails and have each message window open on a different monitor?

Hi Timothy,

Regarding your concern, in the New Outlook for Windows, you can open messages in separate windows and place them on different monitors. However, Outlook does not currently distribute each newly opened message automatically across different monitors.

To open individual emails on different monitors

In Outlook, select View > Reading Pane and choose Popout only.
Double-click an email to open it in a separate window. You can also click the Open in new window icon near the upper-right corner of the message.
Drag that message window to the monitor where you want it.
Double-click another email, then move that window to another monitor.

Refer to Use and configure the Reading Pane to preview messages in Outlook | Microsoft Support, "Popout only" prevents messages from appearing in the Reading Pane and opens them separately when you double-click or use the pop-out option.

There are also Windows shortcuts that can help you quickly move the message to a different monitor:

Windows key + Shift + Right Arrow moves it to the next monitor.
Windows key + Shift + Left Arrow moves it to the previous monitor.
Windows key + Left/Right Arrow snaps it to one side of the current monitor.

If your goal is to single-click messages and have Outlook automatically open each one in a new window on alternating monitors, new Outlook does not provide that behavior. Popout only still requires a double-click or the pop-out button, and you must position each window yourself.

Thank you for responding! The emails are opening in their own window, but do not open automatically on another monitor. I open 40 - 50 or more emails at one time regularly and having the capability for them to open on a different monitor is a huge time-saver. Hopefully, this feature available in the old email app will be available on the new one soon. I sincerely appreciate your reply and time.

Since you regularly open 40 to 50 emails at once, the feature is absolutely valuable. Unfortunately, the new Outlook does not currently support automatically opening email windows on another monitor.
