Hello,

I am trying to understand why Xbox Mode / Full Screen Experience (FSE) is still unavailable on my Windows 11 desktop PC.

My current configuration is:

  • Windows 11 26H2
  • OS Build: 26300.9539
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB
  • Region: France / EEA
  • Microsoft Gaming App: 2609.1001.15.0

I understand that Xbox Mode has been progressively rolled out through a Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) and that availability may depend on device eligibility and server-side configuration.

However, my PC still does not have Xbox Mode even though I am running a recent Windows 11 26H2 build and the relevant components appear to be installed.

Feature flags

I checked the two feature IDs that have been reported as being associated with Xbox Mode:

.\ViVeTool.exe /query /id:59765208,58989070

The result is:

[59765208]
Priority : Service (4)
State : Enabled (2)
Type : Experiment (1)

[58989070]
Priority : ImageOverride (15)
State : Enabled (2)
Type : Override (0)

Both features are therefore already enabled on my system.

Xbox / Gaming components

The Microsoft Gaming App is installed for all users:

Name : Microsoft.GamingApp
PackageFamilyName : Microsoft.GamingApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe
PackageFullName : Microsoft.GamingApp_2609.1001.15.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
InstallLocation : C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GamingApp_2609.1001.15.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

Gaming Services and the other Xbox components are also installed.

Windows Gaming Posture components

I also inspected the Windows Gaming Settings handler:

C:\Windows\System32\SettingsHandlers_Gaming.dll

It contains the following strings related to Gaming Posture / Full Screen Experience:

SystemSettings_Gaming_GamingPosture_ChooseHomeApp
SystemSettings_Gaming_GamingPosture_EnabledAtStartupToggle
SystemSettings_Gaming_GamingPosture_EnableFullScreenExperienceToggle
SystemSettings_Gaming_GamingPosture_ShowOnDesktopSwitcherToggle
SystemSettings_Gaming_GamingPosture_TaskSwitcherNexusInjection

It also contains:

Windows.Internal.GamingExperiences.Posture.GamingPostureConfiguration
Windows.Internal.StateRepository.Application
Microsoft.GamingApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.Xbox.App

This appears to indicate that the Windows-side Gaming Posture / FSE components are present on the system.

Current behavior

Despite this, I still do not have:

Settings → Gaming → Xbox Mode

The Xbox Mode / Full Screen Experience option is completely absent from Windows Settings.

I have already restarted the PC and Windows is fully updated.

I am aware of the previous Microsoft Q&A discussion regarding Xbox Mode missing on Build 26200.8328, where the answer explained that the feature was being progressively rolled out through CFR.

However, my PC is now running Windows 11 26H2, Build 26300.9539, and the feature is still not available.

My question

Could someone from Microsoft please clarify whether Xbox Mode / Full Screen Experience is currently available or being rolled out to Windows 11 26H2 desktop PCs in France/EEA?

More specifically, could you confirm whether my device may still be excluded from the server-side CFR eligibility, or whether there is another eligibility condition that determines whether the Gaming Posture settings are exposed?

Since the relevant Windows components are present and the two commonly referenced feature IDs are already enabled, I would like to determine whether this is simply a server-side rollout/eligibility issue or whether something is wrong with my Windows installation.

I would appreciate any information about the current eligibility criteria or whether my device can be checked for Xbox Mode / Full Screen Experience eligibility.

Thank you.

    Hi Malo-Valentin Lequy,

Thank you for the detailed investigation and for outlining the steps you've already taken.

Based on the information provided, it appears that the necessary gaming components, feature IDs, and related binaries are present on your system. However, the availability of Xbox Mode / Full Screen Experience may depend on additional rollout or eligibility criteria beyond locally enabled feature flags.

A few quick checks you can try:

    1. Ensure Windows is fully updated through Settings > Windows Update.
    2. Open Microsoft Store and update the Gaming App, Xbox app, and Gaming Services.
    3. Restart the device after installing updates and recheck Settings > Gaming for the feature.

Since you have already confirmed the relevant feature IDs and gaming components are present, further local troubleshooting may provide limited benefit. At this stage, the behavior could be related to how the feature is being made available across eligible devices and regions, which is not always determined solely by installed components or ViVeTool configuration.

If the feature remains unavailable, the best next step would be to monitor future Windows and Gaming app updates for any changes, and watch for official Microsoft announcements or documentation that may provide additional details regarding eligibility and rollout status.

Thank you for taking the time to document your findings so thoroughly. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
