how do I set up calendar to receive event invitations from email?

why when I accept a meeting invitation does it not appear in my calendar. it used to with legacy outlook but doesn't for the new version.

    To have Outlook add events from email to the calendar, use Outlook on the web or Outlook.com settings:

    Hi Catherine,

    Good day. In your New Outlook, accepting a meeting invitation should automatically add it to your Calendar. Try these steps:

    1. Open the meeting invitation and select Accept.
    2. Make sure you select Send response if prompted.
    3. Check that you're viewing the Calendar for the same account that received the invitation.
    4. If it's still missing, sign in to Outlook on the web and check your Calendar there.

    If it still doesn't work:

    1. Open the invitation and select Accept > send response.
    2. Go to Calendar and make sure you're viewing the calendar for the same account that received the invitation.
