Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Since there was an unexpected sign-in and email stopped arriving, secure the account first, then check for mailbox changes that attackers commonly make.
- Run a full malware scan on the PC before changing anything else.
- Open Windows Security.
- Go to Virus and threat protection.
- Select Scan options > Full scan > Scan now.
- Change the Microsoft account password, or reset it if sign-in fails.
- After the scan, change the password to a strong one.
- Check recent sign-in activity.
- Open the Recent activity page and review the sign-ins from the last 30 days.
- Mark the Indonesia sign-in as not recognized if it was not legitimate.
- Check Outlook.com settings that may stop mail from reaching the Inbox.
- In Outlook.com on the web, review Rules and remove anything unfamiliar.
- Check Forwarding and remove any unknown forwarding destination.
- Check connected accounts and automatic replies for anything unfamiliar.
- Review account security details.
- Verify recovery methods and other security info are still correct.
- Remove unrecognized trusted devices if present.
- Turn on two-step verification.
- If the Outlook.com account is blocked because of unusual activity, use the Sign-in Helper to unblock it.
- If email still does not return, use the sign-in helper or Contact Microsoft Support. Support agents cannot send password reset links or directly change account details, but the tool can guide to the correct recovery path.
