Error----I'm sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Tried below

Save the workbook to OneDrive/SharePoint and turn on AutoSave

  • Copilot in Excel requires the file to be saved to OneDrive or SharePoint.
  • Ensure AutoSave = ON.
  1. Close and reopen Excel
    • Temporary Copilot service issues are often resolved after restarting the application. Microsoft notes that some Copilot service fixes require an application restart to pick up changes.
    • Save the file as**.xlsx**.
    • Copilot may not work with certain unsupported formats.
    • Check if the workbook is checked out
    • If the file is checked out from SharePoint, Copilot can show errors or unsupported file state messages. Check the file back in and reopen it.
  2. Verify internet connectivity and VPN
    • Copilot requires an active connection to Microsoft services. Connection interruptions can cause processing errors.
    Try a simple prompt
    • Example:"Summarize this table" or*"Suggest a formula for this column."*
    • If simple prompts work but complex ones fail, the prompt or workbook context may be causing the issue.
  3. Update Office
  • In Excel, go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
    • Outdated Office builds can cause Copilot issues.

I recommend that your organization's IT administrator monitor incident CP1470554 in the Microsoft 365 admin center > Service Health for the latest updates, as Microsoft is actively working on a resolution.

Note: In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

Once the service has been fully restored, please restart the application and test Microsoft 365 Copilot again.
