New word document will not allow me to type in it

I had a microsoft upgrade on my Big Sur Apple computer and now when I go to open a new word document it will not allow me to type in the document. the yellow space bar has a small x in the top left hand corner. If i click on that the yellow pace disappears and it still does not allow me to type in the document. My account is not due for payment until December 2026.

    If your version of MacOS is Big Sur, then the error you are seeing is caused by an update in July, many people are seeing the exact same error, if you are unable to upgrade your MacOS to a newer compatible version (12 or above), your Office apps will go into Read Only mode, on the link below they provide full details on that update.
