When I am typing on word it keeps on deleting my paragraphs.

I don't know what it exactly is but every time I am typing on word it glitches then deletes the para

Under File>Options>Advanced>Editing Options, do you have a check mark in the box for the first item - 'Typing replaces selected text" If so, maybe you are inadvertently pressing CTRL+A to select everything and then the next key that you press will cause the selected text to be deleted.

I would like to suggest some steps that you can try to check this issue:

1/ Try opening Word/Excel in Safe Mode

Press Windows + R

Type: winword /safe (for Word) or excel /safe (for Excel)

If it works in Safe Mode, add‑ins may be causing the issue

2/Disable Overtype mode

Launch your Word document, click on "File", then select "Options" from the fly-out menu.
Click on "Advanced".
Navigate to "Editing options" and uncheck the "Use the Insert key to control overtype mode" and the "Use overtype mode" boxes.
Hit "OK" to save changes.

3/ Clear all text formatting

Press the CTRL+ A combo to select all text on your Word document.
Click on the "Clear all formatting" icon.

You can close the current Word document and try the same action in a new file to rule out the possibility that the issue is related to a specific document.

Alternatively, you can temporarily use Word for the web while continuing to troubleshoot the issue in the desktop app version.

This usually matches one of these Word issues:

Overtype mode is on When this is enabled, typing replaces existing text so it can look like paragraphs are being deleted. To turn it off:
1. In Word, select File > Options.
2. Select Advanced.
3. Under Editing options, clear both:
  - Use the Insert key to control overtype mode
  - Use overtype mode
An add-in or macro is interfering with Word If Word glitches while typing, an add-in or auto macro can cause unexpected behavior. Check COM add-ins:
1. In Word, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
2. At the bottom, under Manage COM add-ins, select Go.
3. Clear the check boxes for the listed add-ins.
4. Restart Word and test again.
5. If the issue stops, re-enable add-ins one at a time to find the one causing it.
Check auto macros:
1. In Word, use the Search box at the top and type Macros.
2. Select View macros.
3. If any macro name begins with Auto, remove it.
Word startup items are causing the problem Templates or add-ins loaded from the Word startup folder can also cause this. To test:
1. Quit all instances of Word and Outlook.
2. Open File Explorer and check the Word startup folder: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
3. Move the items from that folder to the desktop temporarily.
4. Start Word and test typing again.
5. If the problem is gone, add the files back one by one to identify the cause.
Make sure Office is updated
1. Open Word.
2. Go to File > Account.
3. Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.

If Word is actually closing while typing, not just deleting text, there is a known issue in Microsoft 365 apps after updating to Version 2407 Build 17830.20138 or higher, especially when language pack files are out of date.
