Hello Microsoft Support,

My Hotmail account is currently not receiving automated verification codes from multiple third-party websites. This is incredibly frustrating. I have relied on this email address for over 20 years, but I will be forced to abandon the account entirely if this filtering issue cannot be resolved.

Could you please check my account on the backend to see if there is a system block on these automated emails and help me fix this issue?

Thank you

    Hi,

Did you check Junk or spam folders?

    1. Open the Outlook app.
    2. Sign in to the email account that is intended to receive the authentication code.
    3. Open Settings for that Outlook account.
    4. Go to Mail > Junk Email > Safe senders and domains.
    5. Add ******@accountprotection.microsoft.com to the Safe senders and domains list. This is the Microsoft email address used to send authentication/verification codes.
    6. Add other domain senders which send codes to safe senders too.

If nothing helps, I would route you to a support representative. Keep me posted.

Microsoft support agents cannot check the backend for this or remove a block by manually changing account details.

For Microsoft account verification delivery issues, the supported actions are:

    1. Check whether the message is going to the correct mailbox. Verification emails can only be sent to the primary alias or another email added as a sign-in verification method.
    2. Check Junk Email for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com and mark that sender as trusted.
    3. Avoid repeated code requests. Excessive or repetitive requests can trigger a temporary block and stop codes from being sent.
    4. If SMS is involved, make sure the phone is not blocking unknown numbers, the inbox is not full, and the number is a mobile number rather than a VoIP number.
    5. If the alternate verification email is another Microsoft account such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com, use two private browsing windows so both accounts stay signed in at the same time:
      • In the first private window, sign in to the account requesting the code.
      • Keep that window open.
      • Open a second private window.
      • Sign in to the alternate Microsoft email account there and retrieve the code.
      • Return to the first window and enter the code.
    6. If another verification method is available, use that instead. If access to the current security info is lost, select I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the prompts to replace security info.
    7. If the account is being blocked because of unusual activity, wait before trying again. Microsoft states that temporary blocks can happen because of unusual activity, high request volume, or traffic from a risky location. Do not keep retrying, because that can extend the block. Waiting 24 hours may help, and in some cases a longer wait is needed.
    8. If sign-in is still blocked, use the Microsoft sign-in helper or Contact Support. Support can route the issue, but agents still cannot send verification codes or directly change protected account details.
