Powerpoint slide design

In current PowerPoint, slide design options are mainly on the Design tab in the ribbon.

Try these places:

1. Open the Design tab.
   • This is where PowerPoint groups tools for themes, color schemes, and slide background formatting.
2. Browse the Themes thumbnails.
   • Pointing to a theme previews it on the slide.
   • To see more themes, use the arrows in the Themes gallery.
   • To open the full gallery, select the More arrow.
3. Check Variants for additional looks.
   • On the Design tab, use the Variants group to change Colors, Fonts, Effects, or Background Styles.
   • If variants are missing, it can be because the presentation is using a custom theme, an older theme, or imported slides from another presentation with an older or custom theme.
4. For automatic layout suggestions, use Design Suggestions.
   • Select the Design tab and choose Design Suggestions.
   • This feature is available to Microsoft 365 subscribers.
   • If the button is grayed out, check that there is an internet connection and that only a single slide is selected in Normal view.
5. If fewer options appear than before, start from File > New.
   • PowerPoint shows built-in themes when creating a new presentation, and some themes offer color variations before selecting Create.

If the goal is to get beyond the basic built-in looks, the main places to expand choices are the Themes gallery, the More arrow, and the Variants menu on the Design tab.
