URGENT: Global Admin MFA Lockout – Immediate Assistance Required

I am fully locked out of my Microsoft 365 Business tenant. This is a complete administrative lockout, and I cannot perform any tenant-level actions. I am the only Global Administrator. MFA via MS Authenticator is the only method MFA available, and SSPR is disabled, so I cannot reset MFA or access the Admin Center or Azure AD. All standard recovery methods have been attempted, and none are available.

I need immediate manual MFA reset and admin unlock. I'm using Microsoft 365 Basic. All attempts to connect with live Microsoft support member has become exhausting. Any guidance appreciated. My next step is to cancel my credit card to avoid any auto-pay charges within the next 30-days?

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for sharing the details of your situation.

Given this scenario, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support and requesting assistance from the Data Protection team. They can guide you through the tenant ownership verification process and help recover access to the administrator account.

Also, I would not recommend canceling your credit card as a substitute for canceling the subscription, as this will not restore access or necessarily cancel the subscription itself. Once access is recovered, you can review the renewal and billing settings from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. If a renewal is imminent, please mention this billing concern when contacting Microsoft Support.

Due to the sensitive nature of Global Administrator privileges, Microsoft must complete the required ownership verification before any MFA reset or tenant recovery action can be performed.

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

(When you call the support number, you may hear an introduction of about 30 seconds such as "you can visit the link...". You can ignore this introduction and wait until you are presented with the options. Then press "1" as a business email user, and again "1" for technical help.)

In some regions, the initial interaction may be automated, so here’s a general idea of how the conversation might go to help you prepare:

    • What kind of problem are you experiencing?
    • Answer: Authenticator
    • What products do you use?
    • Answer: Office 365 for business
    • Is this for an education or company account?
    • Answer: For companies
    • Are you an administrator?
    • Answer: Yes
    • Are there any other administrators in your organization?
    • Answer: No. I am the only admin in my tenant
    • Do you need a... Service request?
    • Answer: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Team.

When reaching out to the Data Protection team, please be prepared to provide any requested information, such as:

    • Tenant name/domain
    • Affected administrator account
    • Microsoft 365 subscription details
    • Proof of tenant/domain ownership, if required
    • Billing or subscription-related verification information
    • Any organizational documents requested by the recovery team

I hope these steps help you create a support ticket successfully and move closer to regaining access to your administrator account. While I’m not able to intervene directly, guiding you to the right support team is the most effective help I can provide here.

Hope you're able to get this resolved soon.
