Hi, I've been recently trying to sign in to my account through gmail, but every time I try GroupMe says my account was frozen. This account was already linked to the school community, so I cant use a new account because I had already used my school email in the account linked to my gmail. How do I fix this?

    Hello,

    • Open an incognito tab in any web browser, then sign in with your Microsoft account here: https://web.groupme.com/signin
    • If you can’t sign in, try resetting your account password to see if that resolves the issue.

If you’re trying to sign in with the GroupMe app, make sure it has the latest updates installed, or try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

If the issue continues, it may be related to the sign-in problems GroupMe is currently experiencing rather than your account. You can learn more in the following article:

    GroupMe login issues

If you still can’t sign in, contact GroupMe Support directly. Open the link above, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select “Contact GroupMe Support” during business hours.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Force-close GroupMe and reopen it.
    2. Update GroupMe to the latest version.
    3. Try signing in on the web at groupme.com if the app is failing.
    4. Reset the password for the account that was linked to the school community at forgot_password.
      • If the Gmail sign-in path is not working, try the password reset with every email address that may be on the account: personal, school, work, or older addresses.
      • Check spam or junk folders for the reset email.
    5. If the correct account email is found but that inbox cannot be accessed anymore, recover access to that email account first through the email provider.
    6. If GroupMe is still not working, reinstall the app, then sign in again. If needed, use GroupMe on the web.

Because the school email was already tied to the existing account, the fastest supported path is to recover access to that original GroupMe account rather than create a new one.

If none of those steps work, contact GroupMe support and include the phone number on the account and any email addresses that may have been used so support can help locate the account.
