The birthdate in the profile is incorrect and I need to change it which interferes with the parental consent .

Hi Lisa,

QA Assist has explained pretty much all the scenarios in your case pretty well.

If consent has been given, you need to use the organizer account approval to change the date of Birth if it is set under 16 years of age.

Here is something more about the organizer:

In Microsoft Family, an Organizer is the person who manages the family group and its settings.

Organizer: Can add or remove family members, manage family safety settings, set screen-time limits, manage content/website restrictions, and view activity reports for child accounts.

If the incorrect birthdate is causing parental consent prompts, the steps depend on whether the account is treated as an adult account or a child account.

First check the account profile at https://account.microsoft.com/profile/edit-profile-information.
- If the birthdate can be edited there, update it and save.
- If the profile is visible but cannot be edited, the account has consent attached and must be updated through the adult account that gave consent.
- If the sign-in message says "Parent or guardian consent is required for this account", start the consent flow first.
If consent is required, sign in at https://login.live.com to initiate a consent request.
- Select I'm a parent or guardian.
- Sign in with an adult personal Microsoft account, or create one.
- Select Yes, I agree on the consent form.
- Select Family Safety to complete.
- Then go to https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx and select Edit this child's personal info.
If consent was already given, use the adult Microsoft account that originally gave consent.
- Sign in to https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx
- Select Edit this child's personal info and update the birthdate.
If the child account does not appear, or Manage Consent shows nothing, only the adult account that originally granted consent can manage it. Common reasons are:
- consent has not yet been given
- consent was granted by another adult
- consent was granted using another Microsoft account
A child account cannot remove its own consent or change its own date of birth while it is below the statutory age for the region.
If the adult account that granted consent cannot be accessed, recover that adult account first. If sign-in issues continue, use the sign-in helper or Contact Microsoft Support. Support agents cannot directly change account details, but they can guide the correct process.
