Excel Copy/Paste Issue After Installing September 2026 Patch Tuesday Updates

I'm experiencing an issue with Microsoft Excel after installing the latest Patch Tuesday update. After installing the update, the Copy and Paste functionality within an Excel worksheet is not working as expected.

However, copying text/content from an external application, such as Notepad or another text file, and pasting it into Excel works correctly.

Could Microsoft please confirm whether this is a known issue with the latest Office updates? This issue is impacting normal Excel operations for users who frequently copy and paste data within worksheets.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019

Version: 16.0.10417.20207

    This is a known issue due to a recent update. See article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/servicing/office/hotfix/excel/5002914

    For now, two options as workaround.

    Please type cmd in the search on the taskbar. Don't press enter key yet. Instead, choose "run as administrator" to launch Command Prompt.

    Then run this command 

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.10417.20197

    The command is to remove the latest update, which is causing this issue.

    Or

    Use Ctrl+X (cut), then use Ctrl+Z to re-add the data, then use Ctrl+V after that. this can be a workaround.

    Resolution: 

    Created/Recorded Ctrl + V macro to copy and paste. Saved Macro > confirmed working across all sheets.

    Same issue. Copy and paste work if I do it using right mouse button and "past value", but using ctrl-c and ctrl-v does not.
    Also when using ctrl-c and rightclick "paste" will result in an empty cell and clears the clipboard so it's no longer paste-able.

    Also dragging to fill multiple cells using one cell as a base does not work.

    I noticed several other users who have the same problem after latest update. Eather roll-back or wait for next update (I can't tell you if it will be resolved or not)
