Hello, GMS IT
This appears to be a known problem caused by the September 8, 2026 Excel 2016 security update KB5002914. After installing it, copy/paste and AutoFill may stop working in Excel. The update applies to MSI-based Office Standard 2016 installations.
As a temporary workaround, it is recommended that your IT administrator:
Close all Office applications.
Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View installed updates.
Find KB5002914, select it, and choose Uninstall.
Restart the computer and test Excel again.
Removing this update has restored copy/paste in affected Office 2016 installations. However, KB5002914 is a security update, so uninstalling it should only be temporary and approved by your IT/security team. Reinstall it, or install its replacement, as soon as a corrected update becomes available.
If the update cannot be removed, please confirm whether Office is MSI or Click-to-Run by opening Excel and selecting File > Account > About Excel.
Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
