I had just gotten a phone and I cannot figure how to even put my phone number in or at least my information on my Microsoft account, I am very confused and don't know if I am able to put one.

What I am trying to say is that I can't link my phone number to my Microsoft account even though I have Link Phone app working but it says None on Bing.

I already have used my phone to get myself a 1050 robux gift card which should be coming after 24 hours hopefully.

I do think I am doing it wrong but I want answers on how to put my number into my Microsoft account.

For personal Microsoft accounts, Microsoft now says you can no longer add a phone number as a new security method. This method is being phased out. See official document here.

For account verification, you will need to use the other options - email, authenticator app and passkey.

However, for Bing rewards verification, it is somewhat separate, though. Msft has now introduced an official alternative: “Verify with the Bing app.” You redeem from the Rewards website, select that option, scan the QR code with your phone, open/sign in to the Bing app, and enter the 6-digit code shown on the Rewards page. See details here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/rewards/use-qr-code-verification-to-redeem-microsoft-rewards

The screenshots match a current Microsoft account change: adding a new phone number may no longer be available for some personal Microsoft accounts. In that case, Phone number = None is expected, and only other sign-in or verification methods may be offered.

    What can still be done:

    1. Go to Security in the Microsoft account site.
    2. Select Manage how I sign in.
    3. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
    4. If Phone is not listed, add one of the available methods instead, such as:
      • recovery email
      • Microsoft Authenticator
      • passkey

    Important details:

    • Microsoft notes that the option to add a new phone number may not be available for the account.
    • A phone number can only be linked to one Microsoft account at a time.
    • If a number is already tied to another Microsoft account, Microsoft may show Continue, Transfer, or Change number depending on how recently that number was used on the other account.
    • If the number was used recently on another account, Transfer might not appear yet. In that case, a different number must be used, or it can be tried again after 30 days.

    For the Microsoft Rewards/Bing part:

    • The missing phone option on the account page does not necessarily mean the phone is not linked for the Phone Link app.
    • For Rewards-related verification, accepted Microsoft Q&A guidance says some users must use another verification method instead of adding a phone number, and one available workaround is Verify with the Bing app during redemption.

If sign-in or verification problems continue:

    • Use the Sign-in Helper.
    • If Microsoft asks to secure the account, an alternate email address or phone number that can receive a code can be used; it does not have to belong to the account owner.

Microsoft is dropping support of text and phone calls as a MFA method, so you no longer can add a new one. Your phone can be added as a passkey device or as a Microsoft Authenticator App device.
