Was using CoPilot earlier without any problem. Went to go back in and it keeps saying something went wrong - try again

This is the free version that came with my Windows 11 laptop

    Hi Barbara Kennedy,

I understand how inconvenient this is, especially since Copilot was working normally earlier.

Have you already tried the AI Answer’s suggestions to reset the Copilot app or uninstall and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store? If so, please let me know which steps you tried and what happened afterward.

To help narrow this down, could you also confirm:

    • Does Copilot work when accessed through a web browser?
    • Are you signed in to the Windows app with your personal Microsoft account?
    • Did the issue begin after a Windows or Copilot app update?
    • What Windows version and OS build are you using? Press Windows key + R, enter winver and share the version and build shown. Please leave out any personal or device-identifying information.

If you have not already done so, open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates, install any available updates, and restart your laptop before testing the preinstalled Copilot app again. You can also run the Copilot connectivity troubleshooter through the Get Help app to check for connection or firewall-related blockers.

Please let me know how it goes and share the details above if the error continues.

    Try this in order:

    1. Reset the Copilot app
      • Open Start and search for Copilot.
      • Right-click Copilot and select App settings.
      • In the Reset section, select Reset.
      • Then open Copilot again and check whether it starts normally.
    2. Uninstall and reinstall the app
      • On Windows 11: open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Search for Copilot.
      • Select next to the app, then select Uninstall.
      • Reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
    3. Confirm the app source
      • On new Windows 11 PCs, the Copilot app is usually installed by default.
      • If it was removed or became unavailable, it can be installed again for free from the Microsoft Store.
    4. If the problem started suddenly after an update
      • There is a documented community-reported issue affecting some devices.
      • If reset and reinstall do not help, submit feedback from Windows with Windows key + F so the issue can be investigated.

This app is the free Copilot app for Windows, and reinstalling it from Microsoft Store is supported.
