Dear Kim Libera,
I understand that you inserted an audio track extracted from a YouTube video into PowerPoint, but the music stops after the first slide. The file appears as an MP4, and the Play in Background option is not available on the Playback tab.
The issue may be related to the file format. Although the MP4 contains an audio track, PowerPoint normally treats an MP4 file as video, so the Play in Background audio option may not appear.
Please try the options below and check whether the issue continues:
- Convert the extracted track to MP3 or M4A using a trusted audio converter. PowerPoint recommends M4A with AAC encoding for audio. See more: Video and audio file formats supported in PowerPoint.
- Save the converted file in an easy-to-find folder, such as Music or Downloads.
- In PowerPoint, select Insert > Audio > Audio on My PC, then insert the converted file.
- Select the speaker icon on the slide. The Playback tab should now appear. Select Play in Background to start the music automatically and continue it across slides.
- If needed, open Animations > Animation Pane, double-select the audio item, and under Effect > Stop playing, choose After and enter the number of slides.
If playback is still inconsistent, select File > Info > Optimize Compatibility when that option is available.
Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps, and I'll be glad to continue looking into it with you.
