    Welcome Peter Harris

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To better understand the issue, could you please clarify:

    • When you open Copilot, do you see the message "Something went wrong" immediately, or does it appear after signing in?
    • Are you using a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
    • Does Copilot work normally in a web browser at copilot.microsoft.com using the same account?

Since you've already tried restarting and reinstalling, please also try these quick checks:

    • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Copilot > Advanced options, then select Reset
    • Open Microsoft Edge and ensure you can successfully sign in to your Microsoft account.
    • Open Microsoft Store > Library and select Get updates to install any available updates for Copilot and related Microsoft components.
    • Restart Windows and test Copilot again.

I had the same issue on Windows 11 and noticed there was a security update ( KB5124008 ) that had installed last night.
Copilot is unaffected on IOS, so I asked it were there any known issues with copilot as a result of the KB5124008 update.

I followed the fix below by amending the local group policy setting and Copilot is now loading again on my Windows 11 device.

    **Copilots Response:
    **
KB5124008 is currently breaking Windows Copilot on Windows 11 for a large number of users. The update appears to reset or corrupt the Copilot integration layer (WebView2 + Windows Copilot policy), causing Copilot to either not open at all or remain stuck in a loading state. This matches the pattern seen in earlier updates like KB5055523 and KB5074109, which caused identical failures.

Below is the exact fix sequence that works for KB5124008‑related Copilot failures.

🟦 Immediate Fix (works for most users)

    1. Reset the Copilot Group Policy toggle

KB5124008 is resetting the Copilot policy on many machines.

    1. Press Win + R → type gpedit.msc → Enter
    2. Go to:

User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Copilot

    1. Open Turn off Windows Copilot
    2. Set it to Disabled

(Yes, “Disabled” means Copilot is allowed.)  digitnaut.com

    1. Restart Windows
