sync outlook with phone and iPad

For Outlook.com on a phone or iPad, old folders and old mail are often kept in sync by the mobile device partnership or by another mail app/device still connected to the mailbox.

Try this first in Outlook on the web:

1. Sign in to Outlook on the web.
2. Go to Settings > General > Mobile devices.
3. Select the phone or iPad in the list, then select Delete to remove the device partnership.
4. Select Save.
5. Power off the phone or iPad completely.
6. Turn it back on after a few seconds.
7. Sync the mailbox again or re-add the account if needed.

If using classic Outlook on the web:

1. Sign in to Outlook on the web.
2. Choose Settings next to the account name, then Mail.
3. Under General, choose Mobile Devices.
4. Select the device and choose Remove.
5. Confirm with Yes.
6. Power off the device, restart it, and sync again.

Important checks:

• If calendar and contacts are not syncing, IMAP and POP only sync email. They do not sync calendar or contacts. For calendar and contacts, the account must use Exchange ActiveSync.
• If mail, calendar, and contacts used to sync before and now they do not, remove the sync partnership and then re-add the account.
• If duplicate or old folders keep coming back, a mobile device or third-party mail app may be recreating them through synchronization.
• If Outlook for iOS or Android is being used, deleting folders is not yet available in the mobile app. Delete and manage folders in Outlook.com in a web browser.

If old folders still reappear after deleting them on the web, check other connected devices or mail apps that still use the same mailbox, because they can recreate duplicate folders during sync.
