A desktop publishing application from Microsoft that focuses on page layout and graphic design.
Switching subscription tiers will not allow you to use Publisher because Publisher will be retired and removed from all Microsoft 365 subscriptions on October 1, 2026.
Your standard Microsoft Word files (.docx) are separate from Microsoft Publisher. They will remain fully accessible, editable, and functional in Microsoft 365 after October 1, 2026, regardless of your subscription tier.
Publisher files (.pub) are different. After the retirement date, you will no longer be able to open or edit .pub files using Microsoft 365 applications. Therefore, if you have existing Publisher files that you may need in the future, it is important to convert them before October 1, 2026.
If you want to be able to access .pub files content, export or save them in alternative formats, such as PDF or Microsoft Word documents, before the retirement date. You should also consider transitioning your existing layout and design projects to applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or third-party desktop publishing and layout tools.
