that's quite frustrating for me, cause i have reviewed a lot of articles on Microsoft Q&A forum and done so many troubleshooting steps, all of other apps on my laptop are working only except Edge and google, so currently i'm using 360 browser.

What i've done as below.

1, download the latest and reinstall apps, also repairing the apps

2, go to msconfig, disable all startup apps. do clean boot.

3, delete extension folder, delete google and edge folder under appdata\local

4, delete related extention registry items

can you please guide what else i can do to fix this.

Hi, thanks for testing. I suggest trying Edge in a new local Windows account to check whether the problem is specific to your current Windows profile.

Open Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account.

Select “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information,” then “Add a user without a Microsoft account.” Complete the setup.

Sign out of Windows, sign in to the new account, and try opening Edge before enabling browser sync.

    Microsoft’s instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/identity-signin/manage-user-accounts-in-windows

Please let me know whether Edge opens there. If it also fails, please share the Application Error details requested earlier, or confirm that no matching error appears.

Hi, thanks for explaining what you’ve already tried. I suggest testing whether graphics acceleration is preventing Edge from opening.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and end all Microsoft Edge processes in Task Manager.

Press Win + R, enter the following, and press Enter:

    msedge.exe --disable-gpu

If Edge opens, enter edge://settings/system in the address bar, turn off “Use graphics acceleration when available,” then restart Edge normally.

If it still won’t open, press Win + R, run eventvwr.msc, and open Windows Logs > Application. Find an “Application Error” matching the failed launch of msedge.exe or chrome.exe, and share its faulting module name and exception code. This will help me narrow down the cause.

Microsoft’s guidance covers graphics acceleration and crash information: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/microsoft-edge/performance/edge-crashes-fails-to-launch

Since reinstalling, repair, clean boot, deleting extensions, and removing the local Edge/Chrome folders were already tried, the remaining supported steps are:

    1. Restart the PC again
      • Go to Start > Power > Restart.
      • This is specifically recommended both for Edge startup issues and after reinstall attempts.
    2. Run a malware scan
      • For Windows 10/11, use the "Run a scan manually" section in Windows Security.
      • Malware can prevent Edge from opening or cause it to close immediately.
    3. Check third-party security software
      • If antivirus or other security software is installed, open it and make sure it is fully updated.
      • Out-of-date third-party security software can interfere with Edge startup.
    4. Run Edge repair again from Installed apps
      • Make sure Edge is closed for all users.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes > Repair.
      • Browser data and settings should not be affected.
      • If Modify is unavailable, Edge is likely managed by the organization.
    5. Reinstall Edge from another working browser
      • Open a working browser.
      • Go to https://www.microsoft.com/edge and reinstall Microsoft Edge.
      • If reinstall still fails, restart the PC and try the reinstall again.
    6. If the issue is during install or update, check for these Windows-side causes
      • 0x80240016: another update is in progress. Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates, install pending updates, then restart.
      • 0x80072EE7: DNS issue preventing download. Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections, open the active adapter Properties, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties, set DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, then run ipconfig /flushdns in Command Prompt.
      • 0x80072F8F: incorrect date/time. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time, enable Set time automatically, then select Sync now.
      • 0x80040154: Edge update service missing or disabled. Open Services (services.msc), find Microsoft Edge Update Service, and set it to Automatic.
    7. If Edge opens briefly or opens but pages fail, clear browsing data
      • Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
      • Choose All time, then clear Browsing history and Cached images and files.

The provided material does not include supported troubleshooting steps for Chrome specifically. The supported path here is to focus on the Windows and Edge-side checks above, especially malware scan, third-party security software, restart, repair, reinstall, and any install/update error code handling.
