Hello,

My Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) certification recently expired, and I unfortunately missed the window to take the free online renewal assessment.

Could you please let me know if there is any grace period or exception process that would allow me to take a free renewal exam after the expiration date? Alternatively, if that is not possible, are there any discount vouchers available, or is my only option to pay for and retake the full DP-203 exam from scratch?

Thank you for your guidance.

The renewal period is open for 180 days before your expiry date. The renewal window cannot be extended or reopened. There are no exceptions.

More importantly, the DP-203 exam and certification were retired earlier this year and cannot be renewed or retaken.

No. There is no grace period, extension, or exception process to renew a Microsoft certification after it expires. The renewal window opens six months before expiration, and if the certification expires, it must be earned again by passing the required exam(s).

For DP-203 specifically, the exam was retired on March 31, 2025, so it can no longer be renewed or retaken. A moderator response states there is no way to renew the expired DP-203 certification, and the closest replacement certification is Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700).

The context does not provide any supported information about discount vouchers for this scenario.
