Thank you for posting. Since the issue occurs when saving and opening files on your Windows 11 Home PC, let's first narrow down whether the problem is related to WhatsApp's download process or to Windows file access.
Could you please confirm:
- Are the files being downloaded through WhatsApp Desktop from the Microsoft Store, or through WhatsApp Web in a browser?
- When a file fails to open, do you receive any error message, or does nothing happen?
- Does this happen with all file types (PDF, Word, images, etc.), or only certain ones?
In the meantime, please try these quick checks:
- Open File Explorer and go to your Downloads folder. Check whether the affected files show a size of 0 KB or an unusually small size.
- In WhatsApp, try downloading one of the files again and save it to a different location such as Documents instead of Downloads
- Make sure you have free disk space by opening Settings > System > Storage
- Test whether you can download and open a file from another website. This helps determine whether the issue is specific to WhatsApp or affects file downloads in general.
