The simplest fix for issues with anything under the WindowsSelfHost Registry Key is to simply delete the entire WindowsSelfHost Key. It will be rebuilt.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost

Run the following commands in command prompt as administrator

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

Try WU once again.

Please check the Windows Insider Program

section and tell me what Insider Channel

you're in.

The problem is you didn't keep your PC

up to date, so now you're having an issue.

There are no MS Engineers on this forum,

but I've been an Insider just shy of 12 years.

We are just users like yourself here.

    Hi Dan,

    Please use WIN+R, type winver

and post the build # you are on.

That error is a generic error that can be

associated with out of date drivers or BIOS.
