How to fix online a corrupt XL file

When trying to open an XL File, the following message comes up:

"We're sorry, but XL has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Excel will need to be closed as a result.

Would you like to repair now?

Repair now Help Close

Clicking on anything just closes the file!

    The fastest supported fix is a full Online Repair of Office. The Repair now button in that Excel error dialog often does not fully fix the installation.
