COPILOT UPGRADE HAS DISAPPEARED ALL OF MY CHATS

Copilot upgraded or whatever today and EVERY LAST ONE OF MY CHATS (THERE ARE HUNDREDS) are missing. I can see them on my phone, but not on my desktop where I work with them.

The notice said that the update would take a few minutes -- it's been hours, and I'm at a complete stop for what I'm working on.

I need this resolved like YESTERDAY. I DID NOT ASK FOR AN UPGRADE THAT DELETED MY CHATS.

PLEASE ADVISE.

My chats are all missing after the upgrade as well, on both my desktop and phone. This is my personal account, and it contained a lot of useful conversations. As an MECM administrator, I've dealt with Microsoft's update issues before. Sadly, their first response is often denial.

Even more troubling is the new usage limit I've hit on both days since the upgrade. It makes the product effectively unusable. I can't trust that I'll be able to finish my work, and because the limit appears without warning and provides no metrics of any kind, I have no way to plan around it or rely on the tool to complete projects.

Since there isn't an upgrade option that excludes Office, which I don't want, I'm moving to a different tool. Once again, I'm left scratching my head over Microsoft's choices.

    Hi Alice Phillips,

I completely understand how disruptive this must be, especially when those conversations are important to your ongoing work. Since the chats are still visible on your phone, that is a positive sign that they may not have been deleted and that the issue could be limited to syncing or displaying them on the desktop.

To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:

    • Are you using the standalone Microsoft Copilot app or the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on the desktop?
    • Are you signed in with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
    • Is the exact same account shown on both the phone and desktop?
    • If you open Copilot on the web using that same account, do the missing chats appear?
    • On the desktop, is the chat sidebar completely empty, still loading, or showing only newer conversations?

In the meantime, please try the following:

    • Open Copilot on the web and sign in with the same account used on the phone. This may allow you to continue working while the desktop issue is being checked.
    • On the desktop app, open the profile menu and carefully verify the signed-in email address. If more than one account is listed, switch to the account that contains the chats on the phone.
    • Look for the sidebar icon in the upper-left corner and expand it, as the conversation list may be hidden in the updated layout.
    • Fully close Copilot, reopen it, and then sign out and back in with the correct account.
    • Open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates, install any available Copilot update, and restart the computer.
    • If the history is still missing, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Copilot > Advanced options and select Repair.

For now, I would avoid selecting Reset, clearing Copilot data, or reinstalling the app until you have confirmed that the conversations are accessible on the web.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum, so contributors cannot access your account or the Copilot back-end system to restore or force a synchronization. While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
