Building and customizing solutions using Microsoft 365 Copilot APIs and tools
For Outlook on Mac, the fastest checks are:
- Update Outlook for Mac The Turn on Copilot toggle in Outlook on Mac is available starting with Version 16.95.3. Update Outlook from within Outlook, then reopen it.
- Check the Outlook Copilot setting In Outlook for Mac, go to Quick Settings > Copilot and verify the Turn on Copilot toggle.
- Refresh the Microsoft 365 license on Mac
In any Microsoft 365 app:
- Select the app name in the macOS menu bar
- Select About <app name>
- Select More Info...
- Select Refresh License
- Close open documents and restart all Microsoft 365 apps
- Check privacy settings on Mac
In Word on Mac, go to Word > Preferences > Privacy.
Confirm both of these are turned on:
- Experiences that analyze your content
- All connected experiences
- Sign out and confirm the same account is being used Copilot license validation depends on the signed-in account. If the Outlook session is using a different account than the one with the Copilot entitlement, Copilot can appear unsupported in Outlook even when it works elsewhere.
- If using a non-Microsoft mail account in new Outlook, link it to the Microsoft subscription account
If the mailbox in Outlook is a third-party account such as Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, and the Microsoft 365 subscription is on a Microsoft account with the same email identity, in new Outlook go to:
- View tab > View settings, or File tab > Account info
- Accounts > Your accounts
- Choose the account > Manage
- Link Accounts
Important note: turning Copilot off or changing privacy settings can also disable other connected features such as suggested replies, text predictions, PowerPoint Designer, and automatic alt text.
